The
tasks of the Internal Security Agency
(Agencja
Bezpieczeństwa Wewnętrznego)
are as follows: |
|
1)
recognition, prevention and elimination of
threats aimed at infringing upon the internal security of the
state and its constitutional order, and in particular the
sovereignty and international position, independence and
inviolability of its territory as well as its defences, |
|
2)
recognition, prevention and detection of crimes
such as: |
|
a)
espionage, terrorism, violation of the state
secret and other crimes aimed to threaten the security of the
state, |
|
b) crimes
aimed at undermining the economic base of the state, |
|
c) the
corruption of persons fulfilling public functions, mentioned in
articles 1 and 2 of the act dated August 21st, 1997
on the limitation of the economic activity run by persons
fulfilling public functions, if it may threaten the state’s
security, |
|
d) production
and turnover of goods, technologies and services of strategic
importance for the state’s security, |
|
e) the
illicit production, possession and turnover of weapons,
ammunition, and explosive materials, including weapons of mass
destruction as well as intoxicants and psychotropic substances
in the international market, |
|
and
the hunting of any perpetrators of such. |
|
3) completion,
within its authority, of tasks of the State Protection Service
and the fulfilling of the national function of the security
authority in regard to the protection of secret information in
international relations, |
|
4) obtaining,
analysis, reproduction and provision of information, that may be
of great significance for the protection of the state’s internal
security and its constitutional order, to the relevant
authorities, |
|
5) taking
other actions specified in separate international acts and
agreements. |
|
The
operations of the Internal Security Agency may be performed
beyond the borders of the Republic of Poland in relation to its
operations on the territory of the state, exclusively within the
scope of the tasks to be completed in accordance with section 2. |
